What is the name of your state? Virginia

My ex husband and I are both required to pay on a consolidated loan. I have been making my payments; however, he has frequently defaulted by failing to make his payments. His portion of the loan is late every month, sometimes as much as 60 days. And it has been sent to collections several times. My credit is exemplary on its own, but because of his deliquency there is no way anyone will give me a loan. I can't even qualify for a credit card. What can I do? I cannot afford to pay off the loan, so this isn't an option for me.
