ex husband wont respond to solicitors letters

I am in Ireland and I found out that my husband had been seeing another woman since last christmas. I have left him and he is still living in the house we built together. We have no children and have been married for 5 years. I have seen a solicitor and he has sent several letters to my husbands solicitors telling him I wish to proceed with a legal seperation, however my husbands solicitors is very slow a responding. My husband does not want a divorce and says he wants me back this is not an option. My solicitor now said that we now must proceed to court and pay for a barrister, which will cost 1,000 to start he also stated that it could cost between 40,000 and 120,000 before this is all finished. Can anyone help in with this as I do not understand why I will have to pay such a large sum of money. I am very distressed as my husband got this other woman pregnant and she has since terminated the pregnancey. I have found this whole business extreemly hurtful and am trying to cope on my own but it is very difficult, I would never be able to take him back although I may still love him I also know that you can love someone who is not good for you can anyone please help me...

This site is for U.S. law only.

Ask your solicitor the questions and if you're not happy with the response, talk with a different solicitor.
