Filed already, can I buy stocks or property

What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? California

Having filed for divorced and waiting for my spouse to answer, can I buy stocks and property and retain them soley as mine while going through this process or will I have to share what I've purchased?

Where is the money coming from for these stocks?

My mom pays me $1000 monthly for a loan which was established before my marriage, the money goes to my seperate account and thats where the money would be coming from. Also, I have a prenuptial which entitles each of us to our own separate bank account. My spouse and I have a joint account to pay utilities and food. I own the home we live in and pay the mortgage from the separate account.

Then you should be OK as long as you make sure to never mingle that separate account with marital assets.
