filing in another statemy husband and i have been living apart since Nov. 1999 but are not divorced or separated. we were married in North Carolina. i am interested in filing for divorce but i now live in Louisiana. could i file for divorce in Louisiana? and what laws would i be under? ![]() |

| Based on the information you provided: If your husband also lives in Louisiana, yes. If he lives in another state and is cooperative, then you can do the divorce proceedings in your state, as long as he agrees to do it that way and doesn't contest your state's jurisdiction in the case. If he lives in another state and is uncooperative, you would need to file in HIS state, the one that has jurisdiction over him. |
