Exclamation

get over it

What is the name of your state? UT
My ex husband and i got a divorce on May 9 2005, and to this day i still don't have my belongings. Our divorce papers state that we already knew who was getting what because we did. He changed his mind and wont even give me a quilt that my mother made for me when I was a baby. We both hired lawyers and his lawyer sent my lawyer and I papers that states if my ex gives me my stuff back then I have to sign over the title of a (paid off) 2002 ford mustang that i took his name off of, and did it legally with DMV,but i'm agreeing with signing it over. But then a few days ago i received an email that says he wants my wedding ring, DVD's, and any monies that i had spent (food, clothing, bills) through out the marriage back. His lawyer doesn't know about this yet. Plus we had a joint account together, so is this even possible? What will his lawyer say about it? And if it does go to court what will the judge do?What is the name of your state? What is the name of your state?

the divorce is final? What was the actual wording of the property division? Did you have everything written down and incorporated into the divorce agreement or is what it just a general statement that -- we already divded everything and that is that. He can ask for anything he wants but that doesn't mean he has a legal claim to it. It also doesn't mean that you have a legal claim to anything either.

Now that is where you have to draw the line dammit!!

Give him the ring. It's worthless anyway.
Copy the DVD's and turn them over.
Tell him he can have the food remains from your septic tank.

Anything is possible.

What will his lawyer say about it?

His lawyer is likely to open a 55 gallon drum of wupass on that boy.

And if it does go to court what will the judge do?What is the name of your state? What is the name of your state?
The judge will consider all the proofs and render his/her decision.

We both deployed to the desert, so legally we had to wait till we got to the states to get the divorce final, but we did the papers over there and we both agreed to what we wanted so the lawyer there wrote, both parties agree to split property between ourselves. I got home on the 27th feb and he got home on the 4th mar. i picked him up from the airpoet and when we got to the house he took the key off my key ring and locked my out of the house and told me i wasn't getting anything. i'm just wondering if he takes me to court for that stuff like food, dvd's, wedding ring, what will happen? he wants to go to court and i don't because i cant afford it. Plus he make abot 2-3 times my pay.

For what it is worth, the wedding ring was a gift; the food -- spouses have a DUTY to support each other for the duration of the marriage and food is a basic necessity and form of support. Your wedding ring was a gift to you -- you married him, you get the ring, though why you would want it I dont know unless it is worth money. Is that worth fighting over? You guys don't agree on everything and this is going to be a contested divorce. Where are you at in the filing of the paperwork? Has there been a hearing?

our divorce is all ready final, but his lawyer, my lawyer and i agreed that if he gives me back my personal belongings then i would sign over the title to his mustang. But now he's decided out of the blue that he wants everything I've ever spent through out the marriage back. But his lawyer doesn't kn ow this yet. The way he told me was sending me an email calling me all kinds of names, and saying I'm greedy. i emailed that email to my lawyer, who's going to email to his lawyer.

Let the attorneys handle things. His attorney will hopefully be able to straighten him out.
