What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? massachusetts. is anyone here familar with mass divorce laws? my husband and i recently seperated and i had some questions. how long do we have to be residents of the state before we can file? how long does it take to get a legal seperation? and can i get one if im pregnant? does adultry have an impact on this? any info would help, thanks

Exactly. You both have equal rights. It will be up to the court to decide which of you would provide a better home for the kid(s) - or if you should share custody.

Usually, it's better to reach an agreement than to rely on the court to do it.
