What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Washington

My son is being given a share in our corporation. We have been advised by an attorney that if this is done as a gift, it will be safe from his wife (who is filing for divorce), and it will not be subject to property division. Are there any Washington cases similar to this situation?

Premarital property and gifts, remain separate property as long as they are not comingled with marital assets.

However, in this instance its really simple to ensure that she cannot make any marital claims on the shares. Simply do NOT give them to him until after the divorce is final.
