Health Insurance coverageWhat is the name of your state? California Though my husband and I have not lived together for well over a year, he has continued to pay my health insurance through his employer. He has threatened to stop paying my premium, despite the fact that I am in no position financially to pay for it and I am unemployed. My question is this: is there any way for me to prevent him from cancelling my premium until we actually file for divorce and go to court? I have concerns regarding pre-existing conditions and am afraid at my age (40), I will have problems finding health insurance when I am able to afford it. |

A: No. You will need to file your lawsuit first and then ask for temporary orders which includes stuff you want.

| Why at only 40 are you "too old"? Forty is nowhere near "too old". I was 50 least year and got a job with a new employer and had no trouble getting health insurance - not just for me, but for my 8 year old daughter and my 59 year old husband. Are you looking for a job? After the divorce, his employer will likely not allow him to continue you on the plan.
