This is actually for my fiance', but I'm helping him. When he was 19 he had just joined the navy. He met a woman in Tenn. when he was in c-school there. she was at the time 36. She told him numerous lies and cohearsed him into marriage. He was naive and thought he was in love. After only a few short weeks of knowing her they wed. One of the things she told him was that due to her diabetes she could not have kids. Well,a few weeks after the marriage she notified him that she was pregnant. Not for sure if the child was concieved in or out of wedlock. Also to find out that he was her 3rd marriage and also had a child by each of the others, that had been taken away. When he realized all of the lies he left (c-school was now over) and went back home to VA. to serve the rest of his navy time. She recieved 1/2 of his pay while he was in Navy. Since he has been out he has not payed child support and has been living in MO. She will not allow him to visit with his daughter and every time he calls she starts arguing with him so he doesn't get to talk to his daughter. The few times he has gotten to see her has been only when he stays at her house and is not allowed out of her sight. We did go down one time this past fall to visit with his daughter and she told us to take her out and not to worry about what time we brought her back just as long as he spent quality time with her. When we got back after only 5 hours she had called his parents in VA and was upset saying that she thought we had taken her. He would like to be able to bring his daughter to MO to visit with her so that he can get to know her, but mother will under no circumstances allow that. There is no custody in writing. But they are still married. Also, there is a confusion about where to file the divorce. Some attys. say that we need a lawyer in TN and that it needs to be filed there and others say it can be filed in MO and we don't need an atty there. He is seriously considering trying to geet custody of his daughter. The problem is we don't even know where to start since many attys have told us many different things. Can anyone help????? He also was wondering about anullment of marriage??
