What is the name of your state? VA
does it matter who files first? i live in VA, he lives in WA...
VA has Fault and No Fault (must be able to prove Fault) WA has No Fault if one party can prove irreconsiable differences..
so should i file first because it's better for me, or just let him?

That's a purely personal decision.

it may well be MORE than a "personal decision"

What grounds would you file under were you to file in VA?

No fault in VA requires a one year separation.

Fault divorce may well impact settlement awards.

Also who moved? one of the states may NOT have personal jurisdiction over one of the spouses. If there is no personal jurisdiction then there is NO case in that state.
