House Deed/Divorce/ Taxes

What is the name of your state? Illinois.... I'm back!! I am closing on my house this week and I need my ex to sign off the quit claim deed. In our divorce decree (which was official as of Oct 17th 2005) it states that either party that decides to keep the house needs to quit claim there name. Well my ex and his lawyer are using taxes as a leverage not to sign off until I give my ex 1/2 the interest accumalated from Jan till Oct. I can only give my ex from Jan to April because we had the house loan together, but in April when we re-fiananced the loan went on my name only and my husband remained on the title. He is being advised not to sign the deed unless I give him 1/2 the taxes from Jan to OCT. Can my ex do that? First off it says someone needs to sign off and 2nd i can not give him 1/2 of my loan on the house when the 1098 forms are under my info only! I have a deadline to close and they do not want to sign the papers...what do I need to do to have this resolved? (oh and i am willing to give my ex the entirety of the 1098 for Jan- april cuz you can't split the amount for tax purposes)

What does the judgment in your lawsuit say about this situation?
