My response:

How long were you married ?

Did she know about the credit cards, both before and during marriage ?

Did she use the credit cards herself, at any time ?

If so, did she personally pay any of the payments herself; i.e., using a joint or separate checking account ?

My response:

She "ratified" anything you did with the applications for the credit cards because she paid on those cards, and received benefits from them also; i.e., the house got fixed up. It would be another story if all of these cards were kept a secret from her - - but, once she knew, and didn't cancel them, but rather paid payments on them, and received benefits from them, she can no longer complain.

She's blowing smoke, because she doesn't know what she's talking about.

Make sure that you keep the returned checks that she made for payments on those accounts. Those will be your proof that she "ratified" your actions.
