I want to divorce

What is the name of your state? california
i am planning to divorce my wife for 15 years, but i don't want to loose my childrens. the reason for my divorce is because she is being doing drugs for the last 5 years, and i am tired of giving her a chanse to stop using drugs. she dosen't work, so she is always stealing my money to buy drugs. what are my chances of keeping my childrens, age 17.16.13.and 5. the oldest one's know she does drugs. also i just bought a house were she signed a paper in front of a notary public saying she do not want nothing with the house. any chances of keeping the house or should i put it for sale. please any advice will be appreciated. txs.

My response:

Your issues are far too complex for a forum, such as this - - and that's only based upon the issues you decided to mention here. I am absolutely sure you have more issues than presented, above.

Therefore, your best course of action would be to make an appointment with a local Family law attorney. The first consultation is usually free. Then, discuss these issues, and all other issues, with the attorney so that you can make an informed decision.

Good luck to you.

I also agree that you should immediately consult a family law attorney..Just as IAAL suggested.

she dosen't work,

So she has been a "stay at home mom/housewife for 15 yrs? She hasn't worked...at all?

In MY experience, mind you what my first sentence said**************If she has been the sole care-taker(different than sole-provider)..Then it is up to you to provide proof that she has/is doing drugs. That is, if she is(if you mean by raiding your wallet) stealling money and doing drugs; It may have to be alot more than your word against hers. You will have to provide proof of your allegations.

I know you came here looking for answers. I am sorry...I agree with IAAL, You need to consult a lawyer in your area. Try starting a journal of sorts to her actions(including times and dates)..It might help you and the 4 children.

There is a long hard road ahead of you. Good luck to you.

thank you sticky fingers for your advice. now i am not sure what to do?? my wife just tried to kill herself by a overdose of pills. i called the ambulance and she is o.k. now, i know for sure she is not capable of taking care of my kids, and that she needs help. i want to end this peacefully, but i am afraid for her. i still want out, but i don't want to make a mistake were she will kill herself, and leave with it the rest of my life. any other suggestion.

See a therapist also (not a joke). You should definately explore these issues. You shouldn't have to shoulder the guilt of her self destructive tendencies when things go awry.

My response:

I reread your post and I was wondering why you wanted to divorce your wife for only 15 years?

Why not 18 years?

How about forever?
