ilegal imigratory status while in the process of divorce

I have a friend who is a illegal imigrant, and she wants to divorce her husband. Can she get a divorce in the u.s even though shes married in a diffrent country? and would she have any difficulties remarying? and if she did get married to a us citizen would her former marrige be a problem in reciving her legal status?im in the state of California.
