Kansas Divorce I have been divorced for 7 years. My lawyer at the time of the settlement told me that my inheritance from my father had to be part of the 50% settlement that was due my then husband in the property settlement. I questioned him several times, but he said that was just the way it was in Kansas. Since then I have come across state statute 23-201 which plainly states that he had no right to my father's money. There may have been circumstances that made what the lawyer said true, but before I can rest easy I need to know what's up.
I would gladly pay an attorney if there is any chance to get some of my money back, but I won't even go for a consultation unless I know there is some chance to reopen the decree and fix this wrong.

Was the inherited money comingled with marital funds and used to pay for any marital debts or possessions? Placed in a joint account?
