A Las Vegas wedding is just as much a real wedding as any other wedding in any other state.

If they want to protect their premarital assets more than the law already protects them then they need a prenuptual agreement.

Or, if they just want to maintain a public image, they can simply tell people that they got married in Vegas but not do it (although I suspect that their friends will be more upset at being lied to than about the fact that the couple is living together without being married, so I wouldn't recommend it).

Florida doesn't have common law marriage, so they would still be single even if they told their friends they got married.

Of course, they have to be sure not to commit fraud. For example, tax returns must still be filed as 'single'.

Something else to be considered, if the woman is receiving alimony, there is now a FL statute on the books that gives courts discretion to terminate the alimony upon proof of cohabitation.

Same thing applies if the man is receiving alimony - which does happen.

Some men win the lottery too, but not too often.
