in maryland my sister-in-law obtained a legal separation from my brother. the state of maryland does not file legal separation papers until there is a final divorce. if she obtained the legal separation does she have any right to apply to be an executor of his estate? also, on the death certificate, she would fall under the qualification of "married." how does this affect her rights to property and being an executor of his estate?
