Legal Seperation before divorce

What is the name of your state?RI
I have a some questions about seperation..How much does a legal seperation cost/vs divorce..and how fast does it take to get one..Do I need a lawyer..also must I be out of the house I am living in w/spouse in order to be legally seperated...because I don't have anywhere to go..will he still have to pay child support...do I need to get out of house for him to do that...please help me!!!

If you're going to go to all that time and trouble and expense, get a divorce and get it done with.

A legal separation just adds cost, aggravation, and pain to an already bad situation.

don't have the money for a divorce...thats why I am seeking a seperation...is it less expensive...
