What is the name of your state? OH.

In Ohio, may an ex-spouse, named as beneficiary on a life insurance policy, collect if there was no property division nor mention of the policy itself in the divorce decree?

The divorce was simple, there was no property to contest.
No minor children involved and one daughter, of age but has a physical disablity, not fully incapacitated, for which she receives Social Security.

Some answers would be greatly appreciated.

**A: how is this ex-spouse going to collect? Is the spouse deceased and the policy still in effect with the named beneficiary?

" how is this ex-spouse going to collect? Is the spouse deceased and the policy still in effect with the named beneficiary?"

Yes, he is named as beneficiary to his deceased ex-wife.
The first communication re: the policy came from the insurance company itself.

Do you, or anyone, see any impediment?

**A: he should be able to collect. And he also should give the money to his and her daughter because that is what she would have wanted.
