Marriage Legal??

What is the name of your state? New York--I recently married a lady who is an Ecuadorian national. She has a green card. She was divorced from her husband of 17 years in the U.S. She did not divorce him in Ecuador. They are still legally married in Ecuador. Is my marriage legal? How can she be married to me here, and to him in Ecuador. I did not know this when we married. Can my marriage be voided/annulled/divorced?? Ant info would be great.

She didn't need to obtain a divorce in Ecuador. A divorce in any State of this Union, as long as it meets the laws of that State, is recognized anywhere in the World.

In short, you're legally married to her.
