I married a man from the Washington State. I am from NJ.
We were married and lived together in his house for 16 months.

I had a credit card debt of $5,000 when we got married and he had some as well on his credit cards. He told me we would get a new mortage in the house and pay our credit cards as soon as we caught married -- it didn't happen. I was forced to use my credit cards to pay for home improvement, groceries, I even bought us a car with money coming from credit.

At the end of our married my debt was up to $15,000.

When we separated he didn't give me a penny. I came back to NJ and am paying for it all by myself. I have no idea when it will be paid off.

Now he is getting married again and wants me to sign the divorce papers.

Someone told me he has to pay half of the debt acquire during our marriage and I should look for a lawyer to seek my rights.

I am so far away and broke. Can you help me with some light about this matter?

Thank you,
