| MD: annulment of marriage w/ non-resident non-citizen Maryland
In Aug 2004, I married a non-U.S. citizen in Maryland while she was visiting (she does not live in the U.S.). The original plan was that one of us would move to the other country. Things did not work out, and the relationship is over. She has no intention of moving to the U.S. and we both have agreed to end the marriage. Is it possible for me to get an annulment? We have never lived together at all (even before the marriage), so obviously there are no shared finances or children. What would be the proper procedure in Md? Do I need a lawyer and have to go to court to request an annulment? Can it be done without her presence, since she has no plans to move here now? Thanks for the advice. |
