What is the name of your state? GA

We now know that unless the quit claim was filed, husband is still responsible to the mortgage company. The courts have ordered his ex-wife to remove his name within the next year (which will be in March 2005). We used to be able to check on-line to make sure she made the payments as to protect his credit. She does not make timely payments which is why the judge ordered her to remove his name.

A few months ago the policy was bought out by another company but we cannot figure out who it is. Is there someway on line to find out? (No the woman is NOT cooperative). Or does he have to take her to court to find out? I know we could pull his credit report, but thought there may be an easier way on line.

Thank you!

even with the claim filed he is still responsible to the mortgage company as long as he is on the mortgage. They are not going to release him until she re finances mortgage. The court can order her but if she doesn't qualify there isn't anything they can do really. He can call the old mortgage company and find out. He is still listed and respnsible, they will have to tell him.

I am assuming you mean loan and not policy.

Anyway, if there was an assignment of this mortgage, it is on record down at the courthouse in the land deed records. Go down and look yourself or, if you don't know how to do it, have a title company run a current owner and lien report on the property.

Where I live, the Auditor's office has online (searchable) records. The mortgage company is listed as well. Might want to try that online...

Or--since his name is still on the mortgage, he should be allowed to inquire about it with the previous mortgage company.

Good Luck.
