Multiple State Divorce

What is the name of your state? Va/Nc/FL

My husband and I were married in Fl in May 2002 and we stayed there until May 2004 when we moved to North Carolina with the in laws. I have not decided to get a divorce and possibly marry a nice guy. I have moved closer to where he lives in Va. However, I am not sure in which state I should file for divorce: I need to be a resident of each of the above states for at least 6 months to be able to file for divorce. I really want to get divorced now and so does my husband. I know that NC has a one year separation rule and so does VA. I dont want to wait one year before getting married. What should I do? The guy is relatively rich and can afford a good lawyer but I wanted to know whether there is any chance of getting a divorce sooner. Thanks!

See if your current lover can retain a lawyer who can travel to the islands and get one of those quicky divorces on your behalf. Otherwise get counseling, jumping out of one marriage and into another so quickly without making yourself financially independent is foolish.
