What is the name of your state? VA. I am a single parent in which my childs father committed suicide after we had split up. I then stayed single for two years. Then I met the man of my dreams love at first sight. We tried to stay apart but we can't, now two years later we have a child together and he still lives at home with is family which is wife and two sons. in which he has alot to loose he says he cant leave she will get him abandament. what are the laws on this abandament? When can he leave? and how?

He could have filed for divorce at any time. Obviously, he does not want to.
File for child support from this guy ASAP! and protect your child.

If he leaves his family without any means of support, then yes it is abandonment and its a crime. It's also a basis for divorce in some states.

Wake up and smell the coffee. He doesn't want to leave his family. He has the best of both worlds as long as you allow it.
