What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Virginia
The situation is a couple that had separated but shared house, separate rooms while waiting on divorce to finalize.
Husband filed for divorce, using an attorney. The wife could not afford and it was uncontested and fairly amicable. No children. The husband suffers alcoholism and depression. (more issues with paranoia also)
They have gone through every thing, mediation, property settlement, they have signed the papers and now they are only waiting on a court date for the judge to sign and finalize.
He has now tried to commit suicide and it appears that he may be committed for an extended period. He has not indicated that he does not want to go through with the divorce, but its not a good time to ask.
If he is committed and the court date comes up, will the judge still sign the papers and finalize the divorce?
