Same Situation

I am NOT a lawyer. Nor is this LEGAL advice.

I have/had the same situation occur with me. I reside in Texas and was issued the marriage license and used it before the expiration time/date. My marriage was NOT recorded with the state and I needed to know if I still needed to get a divorce and I was told my County Clerks office that I could handle this two ways : (1) I could return the unrecorded license and have it recorded and then file for a divorce -Or (2) Since my "husband" said he destroyed the license, and if I believe him, I could go ahead an remarry since the most vital evidence of a marriage occuring was destroyed. So basically, I am still legally married. Try contacting the Nevada County Clerks office or the office where you obtained your marriage license and see if they can point you in the right direction.
