| Ohio vs Maryland divorce laws
We are from Maryland. When my wife and I seperated we filled out a seperation aggreement that she wrote up. I gave her what she wanted and she got about 17,000.00 cash from my retirement fund. She hand wrote the agreement and it was notorized and filed. She then left and went to Ohio and filed for divorce. She is now trying to get half of my property. We had no children together and in fact I raised her 3 children. She took everything in the kitchen and the new car and left me with an 86 delta and old truck that might value 1000 together. We have been seperated for over a year and I have taken all the finacial responsibility for the property and all taxes and insurance. I have also taken responsibility for our joint debt. What I need to know is the Seperation Agreement what they should go by in court for our divorce or will they make a new judgement? Also, can Ohio legally put a judgement on me for property not located in its states jurisdiction? I need to know what I can do, if I can do anything. I would really appreciate any help that you can give me. |
