Question

Paying bills during seperation

What is the name of your state? Minnesota

After 8 years of marriage my H has decided he wants to be single. In September he moved out of our home and got his own apt. He says since he is not living here he is under no obligation to pay any bills.

I can not afford to pay the monthly mortgage and home equity loan payments on my own. Not to mention all the utilities and upkeep.

Everything is in both of our names. I don't know what to do. Any advice?

Thank you

Whether or not he feels he is under an obligation, the creditors (such as the utility companies and the mortgage holder) will hold both of you responsible for payment, as long as you are both on the bills/loan.

If you can't afford the house on your own, you'll need to sell.
