questionWhat is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? california.. My husband purchase a car for me for my birthday his name is the only one on the vehicle we both been paying on it for 4 years now. when we separated i took the car and continue paying the car insurance on it he continue paying the payments on the car. but he keeps threating me if i file child support on him he will take the car from me can he do that? |

| The car is marital property and subject to division in the divorce proceedings. If you keep the car, you will be responsible for (1) making the payments yourself and (2) refinancing it in your name so that he is no longer financially responsible for it.
