What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? MT/WI/PA

Not sure which state this falls under. My husband was recently arrested in Montana on a charge of being UA from the military. His car is sitting in a parking lot of a motel in Montana. His name is only on the car. We are legally married (not separated, but we had discussed separation). His name is on the loan. The car was purchased in December of 2007. I will be the one to pay the car this month.

Am I legally able to go to Montana to get the vehicle and bring it to a safe location to prevent it from getting impounded?

If it doesn't get impounded before you get there, no one is going to stop you from retrieving it if you have the keys. However, if it gets towed, you may have a problem retrieving it, it depends on how strict the impound lot is.

I would suggest that you contact the motel and ask that they do not have it towed until you can get there to pick it up.
