| Refusal to sign quit claim deed What is the name of your state?
Missouri is name of state
We were divorced on Nov 30. At the end of the trial my ex was ordered to sign a quit claim deed immediately..He was found to be in contempt of court for refusal to pay me court ordered support from July until Nov..The judge ordered him in the decree to pay me 500 for court cost, I was given the house and ordered in the decree to refinance in 60 days and also I was ordered to pay him x amount of dollars for equity. His lawyer was angry and told him not to sign the deed as we left the courtoom. My atty heard this. On Dec 1 the divorce papers were signed off..and the judge called his lawyer on the phone and again told her to have him sign the quit claim deed immediately..My lawyer told the judge me and my kids were without money and that I had a pending closing going on for my refiancing that my ex was holding up..Friday, Dec 9, the loan closer came over for paper signing and my ex refused to sign the quit claim deed..he just walked out..so now my loan in in jeporday..my old loan was to be cleared and paid off this Thursday..and now they will not release the funds to me or pay off the old loan until receiving the quit claim deed..My lawyer is dragging his feet..said he was going to "talk to the ex's lawyer" This man is again in contempt of court and how can his atty order him not to sign the deed ..it is in the divorce decree and says sign immediately and she was told this verbally twice..isnt she in contempt of court too. What can I do? My ex really feels he has to obey no one and can do as he pleases to stick it to me..and it seems the courts and judges are letting him..is there something I can go to court and file on my own? Help?
