What is the name of your state? What is the name of your state? North Carolina (Wake County)

I have been living separately from my husband for nearly 3 years. We are seeking a divorce, but I moved to NC on July 6, 2005. I do not have a lease in my name, only the bus stub and credit card receipt to show that I arrived on this date and I can get written statements from my friends as well. I began working on Aug. 5, 2005 and can get confirmation from my employer to show this.

Is there anyway that the July 6 date would hold up in court so that we can file now instead of waiting until Feb. 5? Is that enough time to qualify to use the NC court system.

P.S. My city/state of origin is Detroit, MI, but I cannot afford to go back to MI just to file in court and then come back. Could a member of my family in Detroit represent me there on the day of filing if I have to end up filing there?
