retirement benefits in divorce

What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Ohio I have been seperated for 19 months. I filed bankruptcy on Sept 16th, my husband has a hearing coming up. We have not started a divorce proceeding yet, I have public employees retirement, my husband has school employees. My question is, can these be liquidated in a divorce and split. does the bankruptcy effect the reward of these funds?What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)?

Liquidate retirement? Why liquidate, rather than split your marital accruals by rollover or QDRO? Why would you want to create a highly taxable event?
