What is the name of your state? What is the name of your state? North Carolina

My ROOMATE is going through a seperation. She has a 4 year old daughter. From what I am told, There is to be no men around his daughter, and if there is, that could be grounds for him to take his daughter from my roomate,{He lives in another state} My question, If there is to be no men around his daughter and I live here to does that pertain to me also? I don't think it should seeing as how I am not part of there family. She takes care of her daughter, pays her half of the bills and I pay my half. Can me seeing my boyfriend at my house, with them living here be grounds for him to take his daughter from her? Also, what if she has a man here? Is her trying to rebuild her life and meet new people whom if she liked or got serious about one and wanted them to meet her daughter....Could her ex do anything about that too? ANOTHER THING, IS THAT EVEN LEGAL FOR HIM TO SAY THAT THERE CAN BE NO MEN AROUND HIS DAUGHTER? WHEN NOTHING HAS BEEN SIGNED STATING THAT? This seems so unfair that I would have to go by certain rules seeing as how Im just a roomate.

For starters, who "told" you that there are to be no men around the child?

If there's a court order, then no men = no men. If it's just her stbx saying it, she's not bound to do as he says. HOWEVER, it is usually a pretty bad idea to get involved in dating while going through divorce and a custody battle. And yeah, not a brilliant idea to entertain overnight guests with your 4yo around. While not illegal, some judges do look on it negatively. Your boyfriend would be a different story, but to make things easier for her, perhaps you'd consider going to his place overnight instead?

I agree. Although it would be fairly odd for there to be an order stating that no men, period, were to be around the child. No overnight, non family member, male guests would be a more normal restriction.
