Sanctions?

What is the name of your state? OH
What does "sanctions" mean?
Let me further this.
Ex was oredered to answer interrogarties and provide documentation of a number of things.
They did not.
Filed Motion to Compel.
They got 15 more days.
On the order it states that if not filed in the 15 days, further sanctions shall be entered.
Well, tomorrow marks the 15 day, who knows, they may file at the last minute, but haven't thus far.
What can " sanctions" be?

Wanted to extend some more.
The other problem being the hearing is April 5th.
So, if they fail to do AGAIN what was ordered, not only what sanctions are, but can they delay the case?...AGAIN.

Sanctions could be any number of things....but most likely would be fines.

Yes, its possible that the case could get delayed.

Sanctions could include anything from fines, to disciplinary action against the attorneys (including holding them in contempt), to jail time to dismissal of motions to paying of your attorney fees. It is very broad and up to the discretion of the judge.

Most likely in your case with discovery, they would be fined and sanctioned. And the attorneys could be disciplined.

Update on this and more ?'s.
Well, spoke to my attorney, making me wish he was more of a shark.
No, they didn't follow the 15 day order and nothing was filed or answered.
My atty's answer is to file another motion to compel.
I'm guessing "sanctions" would be entered at that motion.
New development, he stated they plan to file a continuance for the Apr. 5 date due to ex's atty. will be on vacation.
For the love of Pete, can they drag this out anymore???
But, ex's parents are involved in this suit as well due to the property transfer to them.
Ex's Dad is in the process of selling his business.
Sale is in progress.
Rumor has it the sale should be complete within 30 days.
I say we can put a lein (or is it lien) on this should we get a judgement and I could actually see the $$.
My atty seemed very unexcited by this, and wasn't concerned with the continuance.
Am I counting my chickens before they hatch or does anyone else agree that my attorney is not being a go-getter?
