I live in New Jersey. My husband and I are separated (for 3 weeks) and we are contemplating divorce. I know NJ law states you must be separated 18 months to get a no fault divorce. Must we file legal separation papers for the 18 months to be verified or can we just state that we have been separated for 18 months to get the no-fault divorce?
