I am currently in grad school salary ~1400 per month. Got married in jan in india. Wife indian, I am a canadian
I will be applying for divorce in new jersey after a year. I will be a researcher at a university (post doc) earning 32,000 a year.. Wife is not working, stays at home. In the settlement, what is the maximum amount my wife can ask for? Will it be based on my current earnings and savings (which is near zero) or will it be based on my future earnings? Will I have to pay for her lifetime?? Are there any legal rules which constricts the amount she asks for? Please advice...
