| | | Settlement & such What is the name of your state? SD
I am recently divorced and was granted a settlement of which I received the majority of immediately. I was asked, through an email from my ex, if he could pay me the rest of the balance due after the first of the year (2008). I replied that I would grant him that extension. Now, I have sent him messages asking him for the balance, as I have waited 2 months longer than asked for, and he will not respond. Our divorce was decent for the most part but had its rocky moments. My ex makes 3x as much as I do and money is not an issue for him. I feel he is thinking he will just not pay me. He always did feel he had an upper hand. Now, the lawyers are out of the picture and I don't know if I could afford to rehire my lawyer to resolve this.
What are my options to collect this money as quickly as possible? |

How much money is involved? If its considerable, then you should probably re-hire your attorney. Just make sure that it won't cost you more to rehire your attorney, than the amount that you can collect.
