Stolen Car

What is the name of your state? SC

Our temporary order states that we will each keep the vehicles in our possession and keep insurance on those vehicles. (2-1/2 years later still waiting on final hearing)
I have since moved to GA and let a friend in SC borrow a car. A few months ago, her father went to my friends house and demanded the car, which he gave to him. I asked my lawyer to file contempt charges, but he won't because I owe him a lot of money (making monthly payments though). Now, she has charged me with contempt for not keeping insurance on the car (which isn't true). I tried to file a police report against her father for stealing the car, but the police say it is a civil matter because the property is in dispute and she gave him permission to take it. My thinking is its not in dispute since the order says its mine, and her contempt complaint saying I don't have insurance on it admits its mine. The police won't do anything and my attorney won't do anything. Is there anything I can do???

You have way too many hes, shes, and its, to figure out what you are talking about. Please rewrite your post to be more clear. And, what does the friend, and the friend's father have to do with this?

If both names are on the car, I suspect that she (assuming that she is your stbx wife) wasn't happy that a third party was driving a car that is still in her name. I wouldn't want that liability.

If you have insurance on it, then simply respond to the complaint with hard proof that you have insurance, and that you have had it all along.
