My brother went in front of a judge November 16, 2004 for his divorce. Neither he nor his "wife" signed the papers but his lawyer told him that he WAS divorced. "It went in front of the judge and everything was agreed upon" he said. He kept waiting for the paperwork to sign that never came. After Christmas holidays he contacted his attorney who informed him that the papers had not been signed. He was not divorced. His child support had been uped 300.00 a month and alimony added in front of the judge. His attorney told him to pay what was stated in court and he did. She began withholding visitation to him in January "because there were no papers saying she had to let him see them". But was glad to cash the child support. He has paid this attorney well over 5,000.00 for this divorce. We call every week to see if his attorney has anything (papers). Only for him to say that he hasnt heard anything and he will CALL US when he does. He is now going into 4 months after the court apperance and no papers. Is there anything we can do on this matter? Should he contact another attorney? He went into this divorce on grounds of adultry against her. When he went into the court room his attorney told him it was going to be settled that day to agree to everything and it was just as they had discussed. When they went in... it was for irrec. differences, added alimony.. visitation at her discrection...he had to pay for her medical bills since the seperation (3 years of seperation). She is currently living with another man whom we have proof of him saying he pays her bills, he lives there, and he takes care of her. Someone please help!!!
