Uncontested divorce

What is the name of your state? New York

I would like to file an uncontested divorce without having to hire a lawyer because i can't afford one. How do I find the necessary steps to do it right. I know I can get the forms from the supreme court but can anyone help me follow the right steps to file them correctly?
Has anyone tried an online divorce company taht they can recommend?
Thank you for all your help!

First, you haven't given enough information, like do you have children together, how long have you been married, do you know where husband is, do you have a home, community assets/debts?

I've seen many DIY divorces done, but none done right!!

They always seem to have to get an attorney a couple years down the road to fix it.
Pay now or pay later. Hiring an attorney now could actually save you money and will always save you alot of grief. I've seen many women borrow the money from their parents for attorney's fees.

There are no children involved nor do we have any assets to divide between us. The only thing I would want us to divide is an outstanding phone bill. We have been living apart for more than a year and a half. We have been married for almost 6 years.
Whats the best way to go about it without spending money I don't have to hire a lawyer I can't afford? Especially since I shall be footing the bill!

Just go down to the courthouse and get the forms...fill them out and file them. You will also need to serve your spouse. As far as the phone bill is concerned, if your name is on it then you pretty much should simply plan to pay it yourself. Even if its ordered that you split it, its tougher than heck to enforce that.
