Bali Hai

Senior Member
Sigh. I know. I was clarifying, because...well... let's face it, Bali rarely, RARELY comes out with a pro-alimony post.

Sorry.
You're forgiven. As you perhaps suspect, Bali feels (correctly or incorrectly), that alimony in this day and age is a form of punishment except in the old time marriages which are becoming more and more a thing of the past. Yet the system has the discretion to apply the law as it chooses. In many cases the court awards alimony for the wrong reason.

In this day and age with laws on the books that forces employers to hire a woman over a man, there is no reason to award alimony except as a punishment for a proven wrong doing on behalf of the payor.
