Question

What to do

What is the name of your state? TX

A friend of mine was married some time ago and when he separated from his wife, he left it up to her to get the divorce. She eventually remarried; therefore, he was under the impression the divorce was final. He recently applied for a new position which required an extensive background check and found out that after 3 or 4 years, there was never a divorce. Knowing that she is currently married, what can he do? Is her current marriage legal?

Please advise.

If HE wants to finalize the divorce, HE needs to handle that obviously.

Whether she is legally married or not isn't his problem but hers.

If he still has any fondness for her, he should inform her of this problem and let her remedy it.

If he hates her, he might report her situation to the authorities.

My guess is that bigamy is illegal in their state.
