What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? IL
I filed papers for a restraining order against my ex-spouse and was given a court date for the hearing. I have decided I don't want to pursue this. Should I just not show up or do I call the clerk of courts or what?

It would be common courtesy to withdraw the petition (modify it), or attend the hearing and give your point of view.

Or, you could just not bother to show up.

I don't know your history, but I'm forever worried when people change their minds about restraining orders. Hope you're doing the right thing.
