    Question Assault 13-1203A1 Charges

What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? AZ
My boyfriend and I have been living together about 6 months. A couple days ago we got into and argument I said I was leaving, but he refused to move his vehicle so I could get mine out of the garage. So, I said fine I will wait until he leaves and sat down on the couch. Then he sat down on the couch next to me and started antoagonizing me saying I will never see our puppy again and at this point I said move you f**king truck. His child was in the next room and he quickly got angry and pushed me off the couch and told me leave because I had said f**k in front of the child. I quickly got angry because he had puched me off the couch and slapped him across the face. After all of this I was outside, he still wouldn't move his truck so I called the police, while on the phone with the operator he moved his turck, so I told her not to send anyone because I just wanted to go, there were no injuries. But she said they had to send someone anyway. The police get there we both cooperated there were no injuries, I simply called them because I wanted to leave and he wouldn't move his vehicle. Then no make a long story a little shorter, they booked him for assault 13-1203A1, which was exactly what I did not want to happen. He spent 18 hours in jail and has his arraignment next week. We have since reconcilled, and I am not pressing any charges. SO far everyone I have talked to has said, as long as I am not pressing charges and and refuse to cooperate most likely the charges will just be dropped. Unfortunately, my bf is worried that they still may charge him and it will go on his record. He wants to be a firefighter and is afraid that may hinder him. Has this happened to anyone else where it was dropped or should he get an attorney?

You don't need to press charges. The DA will. And they have your statement. You can be subpoenaed to testify.
Parents should remember 3 things: Love your kids more than you hate your ex; when you have children the relationship with the other parent is until death; your children determine what type of nursing home you end up in.
Nothing stated by me should be taken as giving you legal advice or forming an attorney/client relationship.

    Attorney-GAL in Ohio.

I've removed the knife from my back, polished it, and will one day return it -- long after you think I have forgotten.
