First, it is VITAL that you do not violate any of the terms of the temporary protection order. Violating the order is a criminal offense and can result in your immediate arrest.
Second, you will be able to present at an upcoming hearing any and all reasons why you believe this temporary order should not become a permanent one. It is VERY difficult to have a domestic violence protection order dismissed. You increase your chances of having a protection order dismissed or made a "mutual protection order" (where you and the other party are BOTH restrained) if you have an attorney assist you prior to the hearing and when you are in court.
