If I was physically abused in the past,can I charged the person?

What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Minnesota I was physically abused multiple of times whenever I do not have enough grades to make my so called mother happy or I did something wrong without knowing it. I don't remember what the date was exactly,but is there anything I can do right now,legally?

Your use of the phrase "so called mother" makes me think that you may be trying to get back at her for expecting you to get decent grades and that you've grabbed on to a claim of physical abuse. Most people who are victims come right out and say that they were hit or beaten or slapped.

Hot Topic,you are right that I want to get back at my so called parents. The thing is that I would not lie about an abuse in order to get back at them,though. It has to be true. In your point of view,I can see why you would think that,but that would be low to lie about someone.

I am 20 years old right now,so let establish that as a point of reference.

There has been multiple of time that I was physically abused for misbehaving. There are only two times that I can remember,since it stand out and one incident of almost of being physical abuse.

The first time was when I was 12 years old in that I got slapped by my so called mother when she found out that I climbed on a roof of someone's house a few weeks ago from the ex-friend's mother. I made so much noise,since my so called mother and I were near the pedestal of the front door. Eventually,a police officer came and the so called mother apologize to me. Since,I didn't want to be taken away from her back then.

The second time was that I got spanked multiple of times with the rear end of a broomstick at the age of 14,but I never called the police. Just because I did not do well on my grades.

So,I do not know if the first incident was got documented. I am going to request every police report(s) regarding my family,so I know what the police know.

Sometimes in March of 2009,at the age of 19,I got into an argument with my so called father and he almost stabbed me with the knife that he had in his hand. He went on to apologize,so I did not call the police on him,but I should have.

Once you reach 18, it is no longer child abuse. In this case, it was an assault with a deadly weapon and if you wanted to do anything about it, you should have called the police and had dad arrested. You did nothing so nothing will be done about it.

apparently you still live with your parents. You are free to get out of their house right now. There is nothing, other than your refusal to leave, preventing you from leaving. Don't like where you are; leave.

justalayman,I will move out when I am able to pay rent and for other needed expenses. So,getting a slap on the face is considered an assault or no? Or it depend on the the age of the victim,too. Since,I would assume an assault is anything that you do that haem another person.

Some of you guys are lucky in that you guys have a loving family and I have family members that refuse to go to family counseling.

If they are so horrible, then you should teach them a lesson by refusing to accept their welfare. Show them you don't need them. Pack up your stuff and move out RIGHT NOW. That would show them who is the better person.

Oh, I see. They are good enough to leech off of but they are so horrible that you want to press criminal charges against them.

To be honest,I was just looking for answers,so if you feel the need to criticize me negatively,then would be better that you do not post anything. If I did move out right now,then I don't know where I would be living. Right now,it is bad to the point where I get yell at my so called father just for being honest about something,but he still blame it on me.

If you press charges now while still living there, I am sure you will be kicked out of the house. Best bet is to get a job and move in with other family or friends and then have nothing else to do with them.

Like I tell my adult son living at home when he doesn't like my rules or thinking, If you are having problems finding the front door I will show you it.

Tallrat,I understand what you mean. The thing is that if someone press charge(s) on me and they were right,then I would admit that I was wrong and I would not kick my child out of the front door. It is because if I was a good person,then I would not get into a situation where my child would press charge(s) on me.

In addition,Tallrat,I think that you would not start yelling at your child if he happen to tell you the truth,but you did not like the answer. For me,I told him that his wife needed this particular item and I put it in the kitchen. So,he went to try to find it,but he cannot find it. As a result,he start yelling at me. Not to mention,he continue on yelling about me stealing his umbella,but the thing is that he forgot that he brought it for me,since I requested him to get one for me.

Do you really think that you can press charges on the people that you are sponging off of? What, so you could control the people that are actually paying the rent?

Maybe they would even give you the remote control... and would start cutting off the crusts on your toasted cheese and tomato sandwiches like you want.

First, my parents were great believers in corporal punishment... and I guarantee that it would have come into play if they had found me on a roof. We used to joke that my father would hit me for distance or accuracy.

Not the way I have raised my children... but it was a great little attention getter.

Second, the moment ... the very second... that you called the police on me would be the very same second you would find an eviction notice in your soft and sausage like fingers.

Well, you say... they shouldn't get mad at me just because I am pressing charges on them...

You would be wrong... and all your stuff including your racecar bed, your collection of potato chips that look like naked celebrities and your happy ass would be on the curb.

Because they can... and should.

You should be kissing the feet of the people that house, feed and clothe you... not trying to find a way to have them arrested.
