Are you asking if a person that was molested as a child can sue the estate of the molester after they are dead for the abuse that occurred?whsprtome said:What is the name of your state? Iowa. Would like to know the time limit on sexual abuse of a child. Can someone go back on the estate of the person who did this to the child? If the person inheriting had knowledge of this, is there anything that can be done?
When did the molestation occur?whsprtome said:Yes, I am wanting to know that
You can sue pretty much anyone for anything. But the chanse of winning a case based on events that occurred 40 YEARS ago, to which you have no PROOF, are less than nil.whsprtome said:back in the 60's, no law was brought in on it. It was a grandfather doing it to several granddaughters.
It's an easy payday. It definitely isn't to teach the offender a lesson, since he's DEAD and all.Ithildriel said:Would you want this blood money 40 to 50 years after the fact?
Not really, but consider this:It's an easy payday. It definitely isn't to teach the offender a lesson, since he's DEAD and all.
Being molested by the step-grandfather did not entitle the step-granddaughters to any money when the step-grandfather died. The step-uncle did not molest anyone so your joy over his painful death is kind of twisted. Not really, but consider this:
At the time I asked this, This was a step-grandfather, the Step-Uncle who was the executor of the estate was doing his best to run the step-children of his deceased brother in the ground, when he knew of the molestation and did nothing as an officer of the law. Therefore it was not so much as to teach the deceased a lesson as it was the step-uncle for treatment of his brother's Step-children, but the step-grandmother remedied this by making her will out to match the step-fathers, she included the step-children per the step-father's request.
The other thing is Karma always comes through, the step-uncle just died a long and slow death from cancer. Situation remedied
I don't know what is the right thing to say to OP's update... "get mental help" comes to mind...Okay, thanks for the update.
