What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? rhode island
I had just had surgury and on my way home, with my boyfriend driving when the fight started. The anasthsia and other medications in my system from the surgury, along with the emotional mental state which I was in due to the type of surgury had a very bad effect on me. After a heartless comment from my boyfriend, I began hitting him as he drove. The fight proceeded to the house and I still was very angry and not rational. I kept going "in and out" of it, remebering only little pieces. The only physical thing he did was push me off of him, protect himself with his arms, and forcefully restrain me from attacking him. He was furious which made me scared so I went outside and I was locked out. A police officer was driving by and I stopped him telling him I need an escort to get my stuff in the house bc my boyfriend and I were fighting. I was asked if he had hurt me and I said yes because when I was restrained he did hurt me. My boyfriends was immediatly arrested when he had cuts and bruises from me and i had just a little red mark and because I was weak, fell in a puddle. The officer wouldnt give me time to gather my thoughts, twisted my words around, and threatened to take me to jail if I didnt coorperate and agree with what he said had happened. I told him several times I just got out of surgury but he didnt put it in police report. Now I have a no contact order with my boyfriend, he lost his job, and has to apear in court for domestic abuse. What do I do? I was totally not in the right state of mind and under the influence of medication from thew surgury and this is not fair to my boyfriend. The cop was a real jerk too

So this is all the cop's fault? Wrong. This is YOUR fault. What you do is tell the truth. Expect that you will then be charged with DV and maybe even filing a false report. How much time was the police officer supposed to give you? You approached him and said you were hurt. You didn't tell the whole story. You are now using everything as an excuse and casting blame on to the police officer. Don't expect this to go well for you. The police officer doesn't appear to have done anything wrong except attempt to help you. Which was a wasted effort.

You were so weak that you fell in a puddle, yet strong enough to attack your boyfriend.

No, what happened was not fair to your boyfriend. You should have been jailed.

And if you were "out of it," how can you be sure of what you said to the officer and what he said to you?
